Recognition for 12 Apostles Food Artisans Members
Recently two members of the 12 Apostle Food Artisans, Apostle Whey Cheese and Timboon Fine Ice Cream, have received nominations in the Regional Achievement and Community Awards.

Owners of Timboon Fine Ice Cream Tim Marwood and Caroline Simmons are thrilled with their nomination.

“We have been operating Timboon Fine Ice Cream for many years, and also invested in the development of the Timboon Railway Shed Distillery, which we sold to Josh Walker in 2015. We love the Timboon community and the support we have received for our ventures.”

“We are also appreciative of the support of the 12 Apostles Food Artisans group and the 12 Apostles Food Trail, he added.”

Timboon Fine Ice Cream are nominated in the Business Achievement Awards category.

Fellow food group members Julian and Dianne Benson of Apostle Whey Cheese are also pleased with their nomination.

Julian and Dianne have been dairy farming on their property at Cooriemungle since 1981. Over the years, they have increased the farm size from 73 hectares to 147 hectares, as well as developed Apostle Whey Cheese and more recently Apostle Way Milk. Their son, Luke, now manages the day-to-day farm operations, while Julian and Dianne focus on the value-added products such as cheese, milk and gelato which are all made onsite.

“It’s about giving visitors to the area a true farm experience,” Julian said.

“Visitors can watch the cows being milked, visit the “Moo-ternity Ward” where new calves are raised, and then come in and sample our wares,” he added.

Apostle Whey Cheese are nominated in the Agricultural Innovation Award category.
The 2017 Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Awards will be judged on Wednesday 23rd August and announced at a gala dinner in October.

On behalf of the 12 Apostles Food Artisans, we wish the best of luck to both businesses.

Update 29 August 2017 – Timboon Fine Ice Cream have been named a finalist in their category.
